Obituary for Donna Bender - Akron Beacon Journal - Apr
17, 2011
http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/ohio/obituary.aspx?n=donna-bender&pid=150320499 |
Donna Bender passed away peacefully January 4, 2011 at
Traditions at Bath Road, Cuyahoga Falls, after a long illness.
Her son, David Isner was by her side.
The daughter of Edward Charles Leadenham and Viola Kitchen
Leadenham, Donna attended Siberling Elementary School, East High
School and The University of Akron. She enjoyed summers with
family and friends in Canada each year and in spite of her 4'10'
petite frame was a lifeguard.
After meeting Henry Durward Isner at U of A, marrying and
beginning a family, she and Dewey moved to Cuyahoga Falls and
were active in area scouting and youth activities at the
Cuyahoga Falls United Methodist Church where they taught Sunday
School and Vacation Bible School. Donna also delighted the
Methodist Women and other volunteer groups with her flair for
decorating, delectable pastries and piano entertainment.
Donna raised her three children, Jackie, Bob and Dave, in the
Falls, on her own after Dewey passed away in 1954. Her home was
a mini teen center as the friends of her children gathered to
watch weekend horror movies and consumed huge amounts of food.
She was employed by Goodyear Aerospace and the former Cathedral
Buffet on State Road in the Falls.
In 1959, Donna married Lloyd Francis Bender, area building
contractor and inventor. They enjoyed square dancing, bridge and
vacationing in Florida and Hawaii when not involved in the lives
of their children and grandchildren. Few visitors to their
lovely home realized that Donna had sown the draperies and
upholstered the furniture herself. Lloyd passed in 1970.
Donna is remembered for her genuine caring and concern for
friends, family and strangers alike. From the days when she was
a young homemaker through her senior years Donna was quick to
share food and her time and positive outlook with any one in
need. As a young woman, she was known for her intelligence and
sense of humor. As an elder, she was known as feisty and a real
fighter as she navigated long term illness.
She is survived by her sister, Betty Jane Jenkin of Arizona;
son, David Isner of Akron; daughter, Jackie Dudock of Hawaii;
and grandchildren, Brendon Kelleher, Brandon Isner, both area
residents, Kim Monticello of Florida, Mark and Heather Dudock of
Hawaii. |

Obituary for Jacqueline Louise
Dudock
https://www.oahucemetery.org/obituaries/Jacqueline-Dudock/#!/Obituary
Accessed May 6, 2020 |
Jackie Dudock, Hawai‘i early childhood education leader passed
away November 19, 2019 in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. Jackie came to
Hawai‘i in 1966 and for more than 40 years was a vital part of
the Hawai‘i early childhood community. Her work ran the gamut of
roles including family home care provider, teacher and center
director, teacher-trainer, and planning and policy coordinator.
Jackie is best known as having been a founder and first elected
President of both PATCH and the Montessori Association of
Hawai‘i. She was President of the Hawai‘i Association for the
Education of Young Children (HAEYC) from 1987-89, and served as
the O‘ahu County Coordinator for early childhood education (ECE)
at the Good Beginnings Alliance. She wrote and co-directed Good
Beginnings for Your Keiki, a weekly parenting news segment, on
KITV. Nationally, Jackie was a validator for the National
Association for the Education of Young Children Validation
Commission, and on the National Childcare Action Campaign
Advisory.
Jackie was recognized by HAEYC in 1998 for her contributions to
ECE in Hawai‘i and by NAEYC and the HiScope Research Project as
one of eight leaders of ECE Programs in the nation to creatively
meet the economic and quality issues of the field. Jackie held a
Montessori Teaching Certificate, undergraduate degrees in
Education and Psychology, and a Master’s degree in Human
Development.
Jackie is also noted for her work in helping to establish
Montessori education in Hawai‘i. Her life’s story is, in many
ways, the story of Montessori education in Hawai‘i.
Among her most notable professional contributions Jackie was:
• State Early Childhood Coordinator, with oversight for the
first federal Child Care Development Block Grant; Project Open
Doors; and a coordinating body for Early Childhood System
Planning, in the former Governor’s Office of Children and Youth.
• O‘ahu County Coordinator for ECE at the former Good Beginnings
Alliance.
• Chair of the Mayor’s ECE Council
• Chair of the O‘ahu Early Advisory for Education.
• Founder and first elected President of both PATCH and the
Montessori Association of Hawai‘i.
• HAEYC State Board Treasurer and President (1987-89)
• Board member for Holy Nativity, Kawaiaha‘o, and Rainbow
Schools.
• Writer, producer, and co-director of The Learning Years Video
and Training Project, used by Kapi‘olani Hospital Neo Natal
Unit, Good Beginnings Alliance, Keiki O Ka ‘Āina, and Queen Emma
Children's Center.
• Author and co-director of Good Beginnings for Your Keiki, a
weekly parenting news segment (at KITV with Jill Kuramoto).
• Validator for the NAEYC Academy of Early Childhood Programs
Accreditation Project,
• Commissioner for the NAEYC academy.
• Commissioner National Childcare Action Campaign Advisory.
Jackie was predeceased by her husband Mike. She is survived by
her daughter Heather (Honolulu) and son Mark (Hilo) and is
profoundly missed.
Hold kindness in your heart and share it with others whenever
possible. |

Obituary for Robert Isner

(accessed Aug
29, 2019) |
Robert Edward Isner, 61, died July 19, 2005.
Born May 15, 1944, in Akron, Ohio, he was a graduate of Cuyahoga
Falls High School in 1962 and a 1965 graduate of National Radio
School, after which he worked as a certified electronic
technician. His interests and hobbies were golf, fishing, and
walking his dog. In his younger years he had a keen love of fast
cars. Bob was an avid reader of Louis L'Amour novels and loved
(and would not miss) watching Antique Road Show.
Bob devoted his last years to his best friend and companion Mom.
He was kind, considerate and fun. His sense of humor, unique
style and "one-liners" will live on for many years. He will be
greatly missed by every one, including his dog Pappy, who is
waiting by the back door.
Preceded in death by father, Henry Duward Isner, he is survived
by his beloved mother, Donna Bender of Cuyahoga Falls; brother,
David Isner (Linda) of Cuyahoga Falls; and sister, Jackie Dudock
of Hawaii. Uncle Bob is also survived by his special nieces and
nephews, Kimbery Isner of Florida, Brandon Isner of New York,
Heather and Mark Dudock of Hawaii, and Brendan Kelleher of
Cuyahoga Falls; aunt, Betty Jenkin of Arizona; uncle, Wilber

Dr. Jack Kile Reynolds, age 86, of Bel Air, passed away on
Monday, October 24, 2016, after a short illness.
Jack Reynolds was born in Cumberland, MD on April 15, 1930, the
son of Thomas and Lona Reynolds. He graduated from Allegheny
High School in Cumberland, attended Mars Hill College in North
Carolina, and received his DDS degree from the University of
Maryland School of Dentistry in 1954. He joined the Army in
1955, and served in the Dental Clinic at Edgewood Arsenal. After
discharge, he opened his dental office in Edgewood.
Jack Reynolds had been a dentist for forty nine years,
|
treating
generations of patients in Edgewood and Harford County. God gave
him the gentle hands and gentle touch that endeared him to his
dental patients, who remained in his care for years. He was the
beloved patriarch of his family and a friend and mentor to many
professional colleagues. He kept close to his childhood friends
and schoolmates all his life, and he enjoyed annual pilgrimages
to Florida to fish and visit with them. He had a passion for
life and was the source of an enormous trove of lively anecdotes
and stories. Strongly religious, he was a member and deacon of
Edgewood Baptist Church for many years, and spent months in
South America on missionary trips, providing dental treatment to
poor families. Jack was active in the Edgewood community and
served as President of the Edgewood Lions Club for a number of
years.
He is predeceased by his wife, Nancy, his high school sweetheart
whom he married in 1950. Additionally, he is predeceased by his
former companion Betty Rorick. He is survived by his loving
partner Margaret Himes, of Magnolia, a sister, Norma Evans, and
five children; Linda Reynolds Wise, Steven Reynolds, Dr. Mark
Reynolds, Dr. Sharon Reynolds Lundgren, and Karen Reynolds
Schramek. Jack was the grandfather of eleven and a
great-grandfather of seven. |
