Lucy Rebecca Newman

Multiple family trees in genealogical books on ancestry have "Rayburn" as Lucy's middle name. Also, many of these books, give her birth as Apr 15, 1829 and death as Apr 18, 1886. These are books from the Austin side of the family. Furthermore, someone has placed her burial site with her husband on Find A Grave in MO. There is no proof of a burial there in MO. These particular books do not say where she died. Someone just assumed she was buried with her husband.

Death and burial were actually in El Paso, TX.

Some family trees have the birth date of Aug 1, 1876. However, on multiple travel document, Joseph report his birth date as Aug 10, 1876. Wife Edna uses her middle name of Rachel more. Her birth date is always Sep 27, but her year of birth fluctuates between 1882-1886 on travel documents. On the 1930 Census, yob is given as 1883.

Of note: Rachel gives her parents as William Roby and Mary Mason on Mexico marriage papers. On her SS Application, she gave her parents name as William Davis and Rachel Collins. There is a possibility that the Roby's were adoptive parents. Everywhere else, she uses Roby as her maiden name.

It would seem odd that the middle name of of Henry and Sarah's child would have the middle name of her sister's married name. The books might have mixed-up the two Lemire.
The M in Lemire Newman's name might be Morris, her mother's maiden name, not Morehead. Or not...

?Ida Newman - b. 1871 Shows up with family on 1878 ship manifest called Baltic at 7 years old. Underneath Lallie' name. I also happened across the name Ida when I was looking at names in schools. I happened across the name Ida when I was looking up Lemire/Myra. I saw it on a page with the same street address and discounted it at the time. Now. I can't find it. There is a possibility that she died before 1880, which is why she does not appear in the 1880 Census with the family. She is not buried with the rest of the children at Bellefontaine Cemetery. So if she did exist, then perhaps she died before 1880 but somewhere they could not move her body back to MO??

Obituaries, death certificates, and family trees keep giving Helen Smock's husband's name as James Hutchens. It was Ora Milton Hutchens. His son was named James. To make things even more confusing, Ora married first to Helen Katherine Johnson in 1930 and then to Helen M Smock in 1940. Family trees also are confusing the two Helens as one person. Ora's obituary clearly gives the names of all 4 children that he fathered from the two Helen's.

DAVIS Mrs. Irene McNeese, age 100, formerly of OKC, died in Austin, Tx.

Feb. 20, 1988. She was born in Kansas City, Mo. Dec. 8, 1887. Member of a pioneer family, she, her husband, Charles Winfield Davis, her mother, Donna Scott McNeese, and her father, Albert Sidney Johnson McNeese, moved to Okmulgee, Indian Territory in 1906. Years later Mrs. Davis moved to OKC and lived there for 35 years. She was a faithful and longtime member of St. Luke's Methodist Church and it's Beacon Class.

In May 1980, Mrs. Davis moved to Westminster Manor, a life care retirement home in Austin, Tx., to be near her surviving son, Ira Winfield Davis. Other survivors include a brother, A.J. McNeese, Eugene, Or.; 3 grandchildren, Joe Deupree of OKC and Indian Wells, Ca., Charles Deupree, McCool, Ms. and Dixie Bartell, Houston, Tx.; 8 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, and daughter, Fay Davis Deupree.

Cryptside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at Rose Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum, 6001 N.W. Grand Blvd., OKC. I have tried everywhere to find the death dates or burial locations of Ira and Susie. I tracked them both to Salem, Marion Co., OR in the 1950 Census. After that, I am unable to find them. I strongly suspect they died in either Oregon or California, since this is where all of their children lived. See below.
