Accessed Dec 31, 2019 |
Richard “Dick” Hamman of Peachtree
City, Ga., passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Sept. 20,
2014.
Born in Fairmont, W.Va., on Sept. 25, 1928, Dick was the son of
the late Roy Silas Hamman and Edna Jane Hamman. He was 85.
Dick served in the U.S. Army following high school, graduated
from West Virginia Institute of Technology, and taught
Industrial Arts in Bladensburg, Md. In 1954, he married and four
years later moved to Keyser, W.Va., where he started his own
NAPA Automotive Parts business under the corporate name of
Hamman Auto Parts. He operated the business, which grew to
several stores in West Virginia and Maryland, for 25 years.
At the age of 55, Dick retired to Peachtree City. He partnered
with his son in establishing his own NAPA auto parts stores in

Obituary for Jace Roeder |
 |
Our hearts
were broken Friday October 21, 2016 when we learned that
our beloved Jace, 17, had passed away from injuries he
sustained in a motor vehicle accident while visiting his
great grandparents in Indiana.
Our son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and dear
friend, will be sorely missed by all that were lucky
enough to have known him during his short time with us.
Jace was born December 19, 1998 to Holly (Webb) Garrido
and Matthew Roeder. He was excited to graduate this year
from Bountiful High School with his many good friends
and the class of 2017. Jace loved his family very much |
.He had a special, bonding
relationship with his Mother, Father, Step-Father, and each one
of his five adored siblings. He loved spending time with his
family and in return, they loved his fun, joking personality,
contagious laugh, strong opinions and sarcastic antics. Jace was
a gifted athlete, with a very competitive nature, who loved
soccer and playing sports with his family. He also loved hunting
with his Father and friends. He always looked forward to working
with his friends at the Boondocks Fun Center in Kaysville, UT.
He was a natural born leader with endless potential in life. He
enjoyed helping others, was always kind, determined, loved to
learn and push himself along with his co-workers and peers to
always do their best. He was truly an example to us all. Those
close to Jace will miss his big, caring heart, warm smile and
his genuine soul.
We love you Jace, more than you could ever know. We only had you
for a short time, but you will live in our hearts forever.
Jace is survived by his Mother, Holly (Webb) Garrido and
Step-Father, Christopher Garrido; Father, Matthew Roeder and
significant other Kallie Knight; Sisters, Brittany Roeder and
Haylee Garrido; Brothers, Kamryn Garrido, Kingston
Knight/Roeder, and Zakery Garrido. He was preceded in death by
his paternal grandmother Jan Blackwell, his Aunt McCall Garrido,
and Great-grandmother Gladys Lemons.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 28th, 2016 at
2:00pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main St. Bountiful,
UT 84010
Immediately following the service we would like to invite all
friends and family to a 'Celebration of Jace's Life' kindly
hosted by Boondocks Fun Center in Kaysville, UT. Three-hour
activity passes will be available for purchase. All proceeds
will go to the family of Jace Roeder.
A second service will be held Thursday November 3, 2016 at 10:00
am at Christ Church of the Valley, Palo Verde Room # 2, 7007

Of note, on this 1850 census record, is a Jonas Hinkle age 70 and
Catherine Hinkle age 73 living with the family. This is the father
and mother of Abraham Hinkle. Catherine Elizabeth's maiden name
was Cooper.
Note: For anyone doing research on the Hinkle families of
Virginia/West Virginia it is highly suggested that you look at the
Junkin book listed below. The entire book (1446 pages) is
available online through the database HeritageQuest. This
database may be available through your local library, if they offer
online databases to their library members. I wish I had found this
book before I started my research, it would have saved me weeks of
research. What I found in the book did validate my research, so I
was not too upset. The other book that is of value for research
for ancestors in Upshur County, WV is the Cutright book, also mentioned
below. This particular book was not available online, but may be
at your local library or through ILL (Inter-Library Loan)
The above information on Jonas B Hinkle was compiled from a combination of:
- The 1850 Census
- Junkin, William Sumner, The Henckel genealogy, 1500-1960 :
ancestry and descendants
of Reverend Anthony Jacob Henckel, 1668-1728, pioneer
Evangelical Lutheran minister,
emigrant from the German Palatinate to America in 1717
Spokane, Wash.: Henckel
Family Association, 1964, 1446 pgs
- and information

Catherine
Hinkle - b. May 15, 1854, Randolph Co., VA; died young?
Catherine
does not show up on 1860+ census records. This name was
found with someone's ancestry file on ancestry.com. Need
to check actual birth and death records to see if she actually
existed. Since Jonah and Isabelle married in Oct 1853,
it stands to reason that they may of had a child prior to
Susan Alice's birth in 1856. Also, in the 1900 and 1910
census record it shows Isabelle gave birth to 7 children with
only 5 living at this time. It is possible that the two
children who died prior to 1900 were daughter Catherine and
son Waitman T. W. |

Waitman T.
W. Hinkle - b. ca 1871; d. 1890? Death not confirmed.
This Waitman is often confused with the two Waitman T.W.
Hinkle below. This Waitman did not appear on the 1870
Census under Jonas B. Hinkle. If he had been born in
1869, he would have been there. He only appears on the
1880 census and then cannot be found in 1900. Death is
listed in this book (Junkin, William Sumner &
Minnie Wyatt Junkin, The Henckel Genealogy, (Henckel Family
Association, 1964), page 452.)
There were two other Waitman T. Willy Hinkle in Upshur
County, WV around this era. Cyrus Hinkle had a son named Waitman T.
Willy Hinkle born in 1869 who married Lenora. This
Waitman T. Willy Hinkle shows up in the 1870 and 1880 Census
with his father. In 1900, this Waitman is living with his wife
Lenora.
There was also a Waitman T. Willy Hinkle b. 1887 that was the
son of Anthony Hinkle and Mary C. Sheve. Anthony Hinkle
was the son of Jehu Hinkle, brother to Jonas B. Hinkle. Waitman
(1887) married Anna Luella Trussler. Buried at
Mt. Zion Cemetery, Upshur Co., WV
with wife listed as Anna L (1887-1940) |
