TROY — Rita F. Smith, age 69, of Troy passed away at 9:34 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2014 in the Upper Valley Medical Center.

Born on April 5, 1945, Rita was a daughter of the late Harley Davidson and Lela Pearl (Stahl) Shane.

She married John A. Smith on September 2, 1966 and he preceded her in death on April 16, 1999.

Rita is survived by three children: Cassandra Smith , Traci (Paul Jason) Bramlette, and Patrick Smith all of Troy. She was a loving grandmother to six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law: Melvin and Nancy Shane, an aunt, Betty Zell, all of Troy, many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Andrea Creasy.

Rita was a 1963 graduate of Miami East High School and a member of the Troy First Church of God.

She retired in 1995 as a sales representative for Ohio Bell. Rita enjoyed playing cards with her friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main Street, Fletcher, Ohio. Pastor Mike Calhoun of the Troy First Church of God will preside. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Covington, OH. There will be two hours of visitation in the funeral home prior to the funeral service on Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Glendora Fryer, age 86, of Spencerville, died 3:21 p.m., July 27, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 17, 1924 in Buckland to George and Vera Burden Harris, both parents are deceased.
She had been a nurses aide at Roselawn Manor and had Formerly worked at Good Year in the Lab. She was a member of Agape Fellowship and First Families of Allen County. She enjoyed nature, taking bike rides and going on walks. She also enjoyed gardening and making homemade cards for friends and family. She was a very charitable person.

Survivors include a brother: George William Harris of St. Marys , a sister Lois Schwieterman of Spencerville, 5 grandchildren: Amber (Ferris) Brown, Melissa (Gene ‘Pat’) law, Cynthia Fryer, Glenn Fryer, II and Clinton Fryer all of Lima, great grandchildren: Eden, Jenna, Brooke, Meghan, Evelyn, Jaren, Gene ‘Pat’ Jr., Arianna, Gilbert, Alyvia and Antonio, II, and a great great granddaughter: Saige.

She was preceded in death by a son Glen Fryer.

The family will receive friends 11 – 1 p.m., Monday at Bayliff and Son Funeral Home Cridersville and the funeral services will follow at 1:00, Pastor Jan Johnson will officiate and burial will follow at Buckland Cemetery.

Private family services for Glen S. Fryer of Lima will be held at a later date with Pastor Ron Lee officiating. Burial will be in Buckland Cemetery.

Mr. Fryer died at 7:53 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2002. He was born August 25, 1946 in Lima, the son of Melville S. and Glendora Harris Fryer, who survive.

He is also survived by two sons, Glen and Clinton; three daughters, Amber, Melissa and Cynthia; three stepchildren, Lonnie, LaDeana and Karla; and seven grandchildren.

Mr. Fryer was a truck driver. A veteran of Vietnam, he served in the Marines, receiving two purple hearts.

Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Agape Fellowship Ministries, Spencerville.

George William "Bill" Harris Jr., 85, died at 8:35 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2013, at his residence.

He was born August 10, 1927 in Buckland, OH to George William and Vera (Burden) Harris Sr. On July 28, 1946 in Covington, KY, he married Kathryn M. "Kate" Harris, who died November 11, 2007.

Survivors include: son Bob (Janey) Harris of Golden, CO; daughter Gloria Harris of Menagha, MN; son Greg (Jenny) Harris of Fraser, CO; daughter Diana (Larry) Hausfeld of Coldwater, OH; 7 grandchildren: Darron (Karen) Harris, Kristin (Darin) Smith, Richard (Suzanne) Harris, Rochelle (Jon) Gould, Stacy (Nick) Armstrong, Heath (Trisha) Hobler, Jessica (Dwayne) Rich; 6 great-grandchildren: Zoe Harris, Tracey Rich, Liam Rich, Hannah Gould, Braelyn Hobler, Jolee Hobler; sister Lois Schwieterman of Buckland, OH; daughter-in-law Terri Harris of Longmont, CO; special friend Judy Harp of Sidney, OH.

He was a graduate of Buckland High School. Bill was a successful entrepreneur. His working career began under the guidance of his father at their shop in Buckland. He then was employed at Baker Auto in St. Marys. After working many years at St. Marys Trucking Co., he became owner in 1973. Following several skiing trips, he purchased an Ace Hardware store in Fraser, CO. At the time of his death, he remained as CEO of Harris Consulting. When not busy working, he felt most comfortable when helping others. His favorite pastimes included traveling, playing free-cell solitaire on his computer and being involved in the lives of his grandchildren.

Rites are scheduled to begin 11:00 a.m. Wednesday June 26, 2013 at Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel) in St. Marys, with Pastor Keith Stuck, officiating. Burial will follow at Buckland Cemetery in Buckland, OH.

Kenneth W. Harris, 57, of Longmont, Colorado, died March 27, 2010, at his home from a heart attack. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 33 years.

He was born on October 11, 1952, in Celina, Ohio to George William and Kathryn (Stoner) Harris. He graduated from Memorial High School in St. Marys, Ohio in 1970.

He was married on September 4, 1976, in St. Marys, Ohio, and they moved to Fraser in 1978.

He was a machinist for 15 years at NCAR in Boulder. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Longmont, Hope Lutheran Church of Westcliffe and VFW Post 2601 in Longmont. He enjoyed traveling, scuba diving, volunteering at the Longmont Humane Society and restoring coin collectibles.

Kenneth honorably served in the US Army’s 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Kate.

Kenneth is survived by his father, Bill Harris of Fraser; two brothers, Robert Harris (Janey) of Golden and Greg Harris (Jenny) of Fraser; two sisters, Gloria Harris of Menahga, Minn., and Diana Hausfeld (Larry) of Coldwater, Ohio.

The memorial service was held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Longmont, on Tuesday, April 6, 2010.

SPENCERVILLE — Lois C. Schwieterman age 90, of Spencerville passed away 5:02 p.m., Friday, June 26, 2020 at Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home.

She was born to George William and Vera Lucille Burden Harris of Buckland on Thanksgiving Day in 1929, at the Duchouquet Township home of her grandparents, where her mother had also been born in 1903. Located on land deeded to the family in the 1830's, it remains in the family today.

Lois' to be husband Lloyd Bernard Schwieterman was honorably discharged from service in the U. S. Army in 1946. Lois graduated 12 years of education from Buckland High School in 1947. They met at the Wapakoneta fairgrounds celebrating the Auglaize County Centennial in 1948 and were married at Holy Rosary Rectory in St. Mary's April 30, 1949.
In 1950 they were blessed with their first-born Linda Lou, followed in 1951 by Landa Lynn, in 1952 Laura Lee was born and Luann was born in 1953.

They maintain their closeness to this day. Her family was her pride and joy, she so much appreciated and enjoyed the hours, days, and years of time spent with the younger ones who were such a wonderful part of her life.

Her parents and siblings were all red haired. She attended all the local churches all of her life, serving in numerous offices and positions. She led Sunday School lessons nearly fifty years.

Her first job was in the village general store at the age of 12. She cut meat, pumped gasoline, ground and smoked sausage, dipped ice cream, sold everything from nylons to carpets and postage stamps and fired the stove in the winter.

She was privileged to be an at home mother and assisted with Alclair Builders, the family construction company. She had a license in Real Estate, Insurances and had been an activity director and Girl Scout leader.

She enjoyed corresponding with friends, especially foreign pen-pals for with whom she continued contact since the early 1940's. She was privileged to visit the Holy Land where her Beloved Savior walked and stood in the waters of the Jordan River as He did.

She enjoyed living for a time at Chillicothe, in the setting of the Great Seal of Ohio, the wheat field, mountain background along side the Scioto, in a home built from native stones.

She especially loved books, rocks, and nature, but she considered her family the most precious blessing the loving God could bestow.

The Schwieterman family shared their home with many foster children, especially Jimmie and Lois looked after Mary and Ebony.

She was a member of the First Families of Ohio, her ancestors arriving in 1804. She was a member of the area historical and genealogical societies, holding various offices in many of them. She was a charter member of the United Wagon Trains serving many years as their chaplain.

She loved the years participating in the wagon train and traveling briefly with the Bi Centennial Cross Country Train. She was a member of First Families of Auglaize and Allen Counties as descendants of the pioneers.

Her philosophies for life included: "Take good care of each other", "The main thing is just don't get excited" and "why can't we all just get along".

She is survived by Linda (William) Harthun of Lima, Landa (David) Tomlinson of Spencerville, Laura (Jack Lambert) Clementz of Spencerville and Luann (James) Everett of Cridersville; 8 grandchildren: Leah Kirkpatrick, Scott (Victoryia) McGrath, Lisa (Chuck) Little, Jim (Sara) McGath, Rebecca (Brian) Van Meter, Louis (Barbara) Clementz, Timothy Shadley and Lynne (Todd) Skaggs and grandchildren: Gina Riefstahl, Amy Clementz and Heather Newport, Kristina Lambert, Brian Lambert, Amber (Sam) Wagner-Prince.

Her great grandchildren: Jade, Tyler (Alexandria), Grant, Krysta, Andrew, Lane, Ethan, Jacob, Perin, Tobin, Bailey, Eli, Micah, Ryan, Alexis, Karrie, Allie, Samantha, Halie, Nick, Dylan, Cody,
Mckenzie, Damran, Dakota, Devin, Sanoi, Asher, Courtney, Jack, Samantha & Hitch; great great grandchildren Rhayn, Julie, William, Natalie, Lucas.

Lois was preceded in death by a brother George William Harris, a sister Glendora Fryer, son-in-law Louis P. Clementz, Great grandchildren Braden Skaggs, Annalise Shadley, brother-in-law Lowell Schwieterman and sisters-in-law: Kathryn Harris, Beulah (Ernest) Nolan and Norma (John) Zink.

She was grateful for the dedicated services and knowledge of her cardiologist Dr. Philip Perona and her Physician Dr. James Bowlus who provided her extra years of life she was privileged to enjoy. The excellent care and attention of the Wapak Manor staff was greatly appreciated.

The family will receive friends 4-5 p.m. Monday for immune compromised, 5- 8 p.m. Monday and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastors Jeanette Tangeman and Kent Place officiating and burial will be in Buckland Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to The Gideons or to Wycliffe Bible

Unable to locate any death record for a child with the last name Harris.  High probability that the child died in Auglaize Co., OH and is buried at Buckland Cemetery.  This is only a guess.
