Regarding the father of Josephine....Guy E Hunt is not her
birth father. Father is unknown. First,
Josephine's mother married Guy Hunt Oct 23, 1905.
Josephine was born Mar 8, 1906. IF
Josephine had been a premature birth, it is highly unlikely
that a 5-6 month old preemie would have lived in 1906. So
mother Esta was already pregnant with Josephine when she
married Guy Hunt. Then there is the marriage license.
The maiden name Josephine uses is Slaughter. Her mother is
listed as the parent giving permission for this marriage. If
Josephine had been Guy Hunt's daughter, Josephine would have
used the last name Hunt, not Slaughter. Finally, on
the delayed birth certificate for Josephine issued in 1967,
no father's name is given...only her mother's. |

Raymond Thomas Corley, 86, of Oak Avenue, Junior, died Wednesday
evening, April 7, 2010, in the Ruby Memorial Hospital,
Morgantown.
He was born Oct. 7, 1923, at Weaver community, a son of the late
Boyd and Nettie May (Hillyard) Corley.
On April 24, 1943, he married the former Freddie Louise
Bartlett, who preceded him in death on Sept. 23, 1994.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda E. Skidmore and husband,
Jack, of Junior and Barbara S. "Bobby" Boserman and husband,
Bob, of Norman, Okla.; one son, Thomas K. Corley and wife,
Patricia, of Charles Town; one sister, Irene Virginia Nash of
Belington; one brother, Ronald Corley of Weaver; eight
grandchildren, Mark (Shelly) Skidmore, Greg (Kelly) Skidmore,
Derek (Charlene) Skidmore, Joshua (Jennifer) Boserman, Marci
(Dustin) Erdmann, Megan Corley, Patrick Corley and Will Corley;
and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Corley was also preceded in death by a brother, Dorsey
Corley.
He was a 1943 graduate of Belington High School and was a
veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army. He was
retired from Consolidation Coal and was a member of the United
Mine Workers of America. Mr. Corley was a former member of
Laurel Mountain Post 410, VFW and was an avid outdoorsman and
gardener.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April
11, from the Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel, 609 Crim Ave.,
Belington. The Rev. Doyle N. Rider will officiate and interment
will follow in the Hillyard Cemetery. |

Mr. Mark Howard Skidmore age 41, a resident of Weaver Rd. near
Belington departed this life Monday July 30, 2012 in the Ruby
Memorial Hospital at Morgantown from injuries sustained in an
automobile accident.
He was born March 16, 1971 at Elkins a son of Jack Howard and
Linda Elaine (Corley) Skidmore. On August 6, 2005 he was united
in marriage to the former Michele Renee Werner who survives at
their residence.
He is survived by one daughter Brianna Witek and one son Jesse
Skidmore both of Junior. He is also survived by two brothers
Greg Skidmore of Weaver and Derek Skidmore and companion
Charlene Zimmerman of Junior. Other survivors include nieces and
nephews: Sara Paige Skidmore and Nevaeh Skidmore, and Shawn and
Kayla Zimmerman.
Mr. Skidmore graduated from Philip Barbour High School with the
class of 1989. He was employed by the Town of Junior in the
maintenance department and was the caretaker of the Hillyard
Cemetery at Junior. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting,
fishing and 4-wheeler riding. He had a talent of welding and
loved spending time with his wife and children.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home in
Belington from 6:30-9 PM on Thursday August 2nd, 2012 and again
on Friday from 8 AM until 1:00 PM the funeral hour when final
rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor
Johnny Paul Williams II officiating. Interment will follow in
the Hillyard Cemetery near Weaver. The family asks that in lieu
of flowers memorial contributions be made to a trust fund for
his children at make checks payable to Huntington Bank P.O. Box
1279 Elkins, WV 26241 in the memo write Brianna Witek and Jesse
Skidmore fund. The Talbott Funeral Home in Belington is in
charge of the arrangements for Mr. Mark Howard Skidmore.

Memorial services for Gary L. Corley, 53, of Middlefield, will
be 8 p.m. Monday at the Russell Golden Rule Funeral Service,
15670 West High St., (Rt. 87), in Middlefield.
Mr. Corley died Aug. 13, 2004, at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital
of an apparent heart attack.
Born June 13, 1951, in Elkins, W. Va., he lived most of his life
in Middlefield.
Survivors are his son, James Corley of Middlefield; daughter,
Lisa Corley of Middlefield; parents, Dorsey and Rosalie (Wilt)
Corley; brothers, Marvin Corley of Ocala, Fla., and Randy Corley
of Chardon; sister, Karen Calkins of Cincinnati; and
grandchildren, Nicholas and Justin. He also leaves former wife,
Doris Jackson.
Friends may call 6 p.m. until the time of the services Monday at

private family service for James A. Corley, 35, Lansing, will be
held at a later date. Burial will be in Middlefield Cemetery in
Middlefield.
Mr. Corley died July 27 at Overland Park Regional Medical
Center.
He was born July 29, 1970, in Madison, Ohio, the son of Gary L.
Corley and Doris (Sawyer) Jackson. He had lived in Middlefield
before moving to Kansas three years ago.
He collected baseball cards and enjoyed antiquing and traveling.
Mr. Corley was a retail sales associate.
Survivors include his sons, Nicholas and Justin of Newbury,
Ohio; his mother, Doris Jackson, Middlefield; a sister, Lisa
Corley, Middlefield; and his grandmother, Rosalie Corley,
Middlefield.

Mrs. Irene
Virginia Corley Nash, age 92, a former resident of
Belington, and more recently of The Home Away from Home
Living Assistant facility in Grafton, passed away
peacefully early Sunday morning June 2, 2019 in the care
facility. Death was following a period of declining
health.
She was born March 11, 1927 at Elkins WV, a daughter of
the late Boyd C. and Nettie Hillyard Corley. On June 7,
1947 [should be June 5, 1948]
she was united in marriage to James Nash, who
preceded her in death on November 1, 2008.
She is survived by her children; James Nash Jr. and wife
Ruth of Ravenswood, WV, Carolyn Marie Harris and husband
“Bubby”, Diane Nash, all of Belington, Jerry Nash and
wife Darlene and Nancy Campbell and husband Richard all
of Morgantown, |
Tina Robinson of Uniontown, PA and
Ladonna Nash of Beech [stet] City, OH, one brother; Ronald
Corley of Weaver. Additional survivors include many
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death
by two brothers; Raymond and Dorsey Corley.
Irene attended the schools of Barbour County and was Protestant
by faith. She was formerly employed by Riedboard Brothers. In
her younger years, Irene was very active and enjoyed bowling and
golfing. She also loved playing Yatzee and going to Bingo. Irene
surrounded herself by family and friends. She enjoyed preparing
large meals for the holidays and family gatherings. She brought
lots of laughs and joy too many, especially with the stories she
enjoyed sharing. Irene was a loving mother and grandmother and
will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral 56 N.
Brandenburg Street in Belington on Friday June 7, 2019 from 6:00
– 9: 00 pm and again on Saturday June 8, 2019 at 11:00 am the
funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Downing Gregory officiating. Interment
will follow in the Hillyard Cemetery near Weaver. The Talbott
Funeral Home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements for
Mrs. Irene Virginia Corley Nash. Condolences may be made to the

BELINGTON -- Callie Louise Cummings, 65, of Teter Lake
community, Route 1, Montrose, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 25,
2000, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, following an
extended illness.
She was born May 20, 1934, in Weaver, Randolph County, a
daughter of the late Recco Dale and Gladys Corley Cummings.
She had never married.
Surviving are two sisters, JoAnn Bowers, Elkins, and Emma Baisi,
Weaver; one brother, Stanley Cummings, Colorado Springs, Colo.;
and several nieces and nephews, including Mary and Arthur "Bud"
Tusing, with whom she made her home.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Arlene Winans,
Susie and Ruthie Cummings and three brothers, Roger, Duge and
Gerald Cummings.
Miss Cummings was a homemaker and member of the Central Chapel
United Methodist Church. |

Mr. Paul William "Buddy"
Baisi Jr., 76, a resident of Belington, departed this
life at 12:12 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, in Barbour
County Good Samaritan Center. He had been in declining
health but death was unexpected.
He was born Sept. 16, 1934, at Webster, a son of the
late Paul William Baisi Sr. and Helen McAfee Baisi, who
survives in Elkins.
On Aug. 5, 1961, he was united in marriage to Emma Jane
Cummings, who resides in the Barbour County Good
Samaritan Center.
He is survived by one son, Gary P. Baisi of Gerrardstown;
one daughter, Anita J. Curtis of Belington; and four
brothers, John N. Baisi of Buckhannon, Robert K. Baisi
and wife, Charlene, of Montrose, |
Ronald Baisi and wife, Brenda, of
Philippi and Richard Baisi and wife, Janet, of Kenova; and two
sisters, Betty Hutzler of Beaver Creek and Sandra Hutzell and
husband, Roger, of Beverly. He is also survived by four
grandchildren, Ashley Cantrell, Sydney Curtis, Kaitlyn Baisi and
Sean Curtis; and two great-grandchildren, Aubree and Garrett
Cantrell.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one
infant brother, Anthony, and one infant sister, Carol.
Mr. Baisi attended the schools of Barbour County. He retired
from Mongold Lumber Co. and attended Faith Deliverance Church in
Belington. Mr. Baisi was a piano player and guitar player at the
Faith Deliverance Church and also was an amateur artist.
Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington
from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and again on Friday, Jan. 14, from 8
a.m. until 11 a.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be
conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Phil Rider
and Pastor Robby Ware officiating. |

Care Center, departed this life Monday January 25, 2016
in the Davis Medical Center at Elkins following a period
of declining health.
She was born May 6, 1938 at Weaver, WV, a daughter of
the late Reco and Gladys Corley Cummings. On August 5,
1961 she was united in marriage to Paul William “Buddy”
Baisi, who preceded her in death January 11, 2011.
She is survived by one daughter; Anita Curtis Biggs of
Belington, one son Gary Paul Baisi of Inwood, WV, one
brother; Stanley J. Cummings of Mexico, four
grandchildren; Ashley Curtis Cantrell, Sydney Curtis,
Kaitlyn Baisi, and Sean Curtis, four great
grandchildren; Aubree Cantrell, Garrett Cantrell, Colton
Cox, and Zachary Cantrell. |
In addition to her husband and
parents she was preceded in death by sisters; Arlene Winans,
Callie Cummings, Joan Bowers, Susie and Ruthie Cummings,
brothers; Roger, Dudge, and Gearal Cummings, and one infant
brother.
Emma was a 1956 graduate of the Belington High School, was
formerly employed by the Memorial General Hospital at Elkins and
was a homemaker. She was a member of the Belington Church of The
Nazarene for many years until her health no longer allowed her
to attend. She loved to sing with the Gospel Singing group the
“Overcomer’s” of which she was a longtime member. She loved to

Teresa Lynn Chenoweth, age
48 years, a resident of Beverly, passed away Thursday
evening, February 18th, 2016 in the Ruby Memorial
Hospital in Morgantown. She was born September 7, 1967
in Elkins, daughter of Karen Lynn Simon Cummings
Christie and the late Roger Dale Cummings.
On August 23, 1985, she married Danny Lee Chenoweth who
survives near Beverly. Also surviving are one daughter,
Hannah Mae Chenoweth and one son, Chase Lee Chenoweth,
both at home. |
Known by her family as "Sis" or
"Aunt Sissy," she is also survived by her mother Karen and step
father, Henry Christie, Jr., of Charles Town, WV; three
brothers, Michael Cummings and wife Eleanora of Flatwoods, WV,
Roger Wayne Cummings of Holly Springs, NC and Joshua Christie of
New Orleans, LA; one sister, Candi Fultz and husband Scott of
Sterling, VA; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ronald and
Retha Chenoweth of Elkins; as well as many nieces, nephews and
great nieces and nephews.
Teresa was a graduate of Elkins High School and, along with her
husband, Danny, was a longtime caretaker at the Izaak Walton
League. She was actively involved in activities at Midland
Elementary School and Elkins Little League Baseball.
Friends may
call from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at
the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be
held at 3:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with Dr. Ken
Shiflet officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hillyard
Cemetery near Junior. In lieu of flowers, the family requests
that contributions be made to Danny Chenoweth, RR 1 Box 177-A,
Beverly, WV, 26253, to assist the family. The Tomblyn Funeral
Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Teresa Lynn

Chase
Lee Chenoweth, a nearly lifelong resident of Elkins,
WV, unexpectedly went to be with the Lord in the
early morning hours of Sunday, April 10, 2022 in
Bracey, VA.
Chase was 21 years old and was born in Elkins, WV to
Teresa and Danny Chenoweth on May 2, 2000. He was
originally home schooled by his mother before
attending Elkins High School. Chase enjoyed playing
video games, chatting with his friends online, and
family bonfires. |
He also adored his pets
including two cats, Cutiepie and Cali; and four dogs Toby,
Patches, Lenny, and Rosie.
Chase was preceded in death by his mother, Teresa. He is
survived by his father, Danny; sister, Hannah; and
stepmother, Tammy. He is also survived by biological
siblings, Lexi Christie, Lucas Alden, Tori Fultz, Hayle
Fultz, and Kylee Fultz; as well as step-siblings, Ashley
Stutler, April Beavers, and Gregganna Phillips. His large
surviving family also includes grandparents, aunts, uncles,
many cousins and second cousins who all loved him dearly.
Friends may call from 9:30 am until 11:00 am Tuesday, April
19, 2022 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral
service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday with Pastor Nathan
Cobb of Ephesus Baptist Church of South Hill, VA
officiating. Interment will follow at the Hillyard Cemetery
in Junior, WV. Memorial contributions may be made to Danny
Chenoweth, 888 Golf Drive, Bracey, VA 23919 in memory of

Cornelius "Tootie" Corley, 96, a resident of the Elkins Regional
Convalescent Center and formerly of Weaver community, died
Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, in Davis Memorial Hospital, following
an extended illness.
He was born Oct. 18, 1912, at Weaver Community, a son of the
late Jesse and Emma (Corley) Corley.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, the former
Callie Marie Cathell, on July 19, 1997.
He was the last member of his immediate family, having been
preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Cummings; and by four
brothers, Elmer "Pigtail" Corley, Raymond Corley, Jimmie Corley
and Boyd Corley.
Surviving are a host of nieces and nephews and his medical
surrogate, Lynn Monahan and husband, Junior, of Parsons.
Mr. Corley was a retired coal miner and was a member of the
United Mine Workers of America. He attended the Weaver Church of
the Nazarene and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28,
from the Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel, 609 Crim Ave.,
Belington. The Rev. Doyle N. Rider will officiate and interment
will follow in Belington Fraternal Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 11 a.m.
until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. Schoonover-Stemple Funeral
Chapel is entrusted with arrangements. |
