Ruth L. Dunmire, 73, Topeka, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at her daughter's home in Topeka.

Mrs. Dunmire was a phone operator in Washington, D.C., during the 1950s. She also worked at Simular Mode Uniform, in Topeka, before going to work at the Topeka Zoo. She worked there as a zookeeper for almost 15 years.

She was born Feb. 17, 1928, in Elkins, W. Va., to Fax and Pearl Corley Hillyard. She was raised in West Virginia and graduated from Belington High School there. She attended business college in Topeka.

A daughter, Terry Dunmire, died on April 25, 2001.

Survivors include a son, Michael Dunmire, Elkins, W. Va.; three daughters, Barbara Stegman and Peggy Farmer, both of Topeka, and Debbie Garrison, Houston, Minn.; two brothers, Thomas Hillyard, Washington, D.C., and Fax "Bill" Hillyard, Elyria, Ohio; a sister, Doris Stewart, Pleasanton, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Dunmire will lie in state after 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

Barbara Ellen Stegman, 62, Topeka, Kansas, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2020.

Barb was born February 24, 1958, in Washington D.C., to William and Ruth Hillyard Dunmire. She graduated from Highland Park High School and attended Washburn University. Barb and Arnol Warren Stegman were married in Lawrence, Kansas. He survives.

Barb was a homemaker. She loved to fish and to cook. She liked chickens and raised them in their backyard. Barb was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Other survivors include her children, Jamie Stilson and Patrick Stegman; grandchildren, Sadye and Colby; sisters, Debbie Garrison (Doug Danhoff) and Peggy Heinsohn (Charlie); and many nieces and nephews.

Barb was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph, her sister, Terry, her mother, father and brother, Mike.

Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. Cremation will follow.

Doris June Hillyard Stewart, 79, of Pleasanton, Calif., passed away April 6, 2015, in a nursing home.

She was born July 2, 1935, at Junior, and grew up there, where she graduated from Belington High School in 1953 and always spoke fondly of her life there.

She and her family settled in Pleasanton, Calif. in 1964. She earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from California State College and worked for Lawrence Livermore Laboratory and the Veteran’s Hospital in Livermore where she retired.

Her sons remember many wonderful times water skiing and also her love of gardening and theater. She was a longtime member of the Lawrence-Amandor Garden Club and often volunteered at their events.

She is survived by her sons, Dan and Steve Stewart; and her grandsons, Colt and Clint Stewart, all of Pleasanton, Calif. She also is survived by her two brothers, Fax “Bill” Hillyard of Elyria, Ohio, and Thomas F. Hillyard of Washington, D.C., as well as several nieces and nephews.

We celebrate the love she had for life and her family and friends.

CORLEY, Geraldine, 94, of the Shadyside Care Center for the past four years, formerly of Rines Ridge, Proctor, W.Va., died Thursday, January 1, 2009, in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, W.Va.

She was born September 8, 1914, in Mountrose [sic], W.Va., a daughter of the late William Dale and Mary Phillips Swisher.

She was a Protestant by faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Corley, in 1977; two sons, Charles and Robert Corley; one daughter, Virginia Bertling; three brothers, Dorsey, Carl and Lawrence Swisher; two sisters, Bina Green and Macil Tucker; and two grandsons, Kenneth Corley, Jr. and Travis Corley.

Survivors include three sons, Thomas "Leon" Corley of Md., Ralph Wayne (Delores) Corley and Kenneth Neil (Nadine) Corley both of Proctor; two daughters, Dolly Talbott and June (Robert) Delauder both of Belington, W.Va.; her twin sister, Pauline Spencer of Akron, Ohio; 26 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 34 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great- granddaugher.

The family will receive friends on Friday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Eddie Wills officiating.

Interment in Mt. Hobart Cemetery, Proctor.

Corley, 60, of 208 Flicksville Road, Bangor, who died Friday in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, from injuries sustained in an accident Thursday on Route 512, Bushkill Township, will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday in The Hough Home for Funerals, 207 Market St., Bangor. Corley was the husband of Ruth A. (Culver) Corley. They were married 35 years in August.

He was a social studies teacher at Bangor Junior High School for 34 years, where he was to retire later this year. Before that, he taught in Bedford, Pa..

Born in Junior, W.Va., he was a son of Geraldine (Swisher) Corley of Proctor, W.Va. and the late Ralph Corley.

He was a former pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, Bangor.

Corley was a graduate of Elizabethtown College, Lancaster County, and Wesleyan College. He earned a master's degree from East Stroudsburg University.

Survivors: Wife and mother; son, James A. of Bangor; daughters, Karen L. and Valorie A., both at home; brothers, Robert, Wayne, and Neil, all of Proctor, and Thomas Leon of Baltimore, Md., and sisters, Virginia Bertling of Baltimore, Md., and Dolly Talbot and June DeLauder, both of Beilington [sic], W.Va.

Milford D. Talbott, 66, of Wabash Avenue, Belington, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2004, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following a brief illness.

He was born March 30, 1938, in the Talbott community, the son of the late Luther A. and Evelyn V. Golden Talbott.

On Dec. 24, 1956, he married the former Dolly Corley, who survives at Belington.

Also surviving are two sons, Ronald Dale “Rat” and Debra H. Talbott of Junior and Melvin R. and Donna Talbott of Belington; two daughters, Debbie and Joe Goff of Buckhannon and Terena Talbott of Belington; five grandchildren, Amanda Bennington and Jonathan Goff, both of Buckhannon, and Jason, Brittany and Samantha Talbott, all of Belington; three great-grandchildren, Miya Goff and Alicia and Damion Bennington, all of Buckhannon; two brothers and four sisters.

Mr. Talbott retired as a tunnel foreman from CSX Railroad. He was a member of the Belington Volunteer Fire Department and a charter member of the Belington Emergency Squad.
He served as director of the Belington Community Fair Association, as a member of Belington City Council and as a Little League coach.  He was a Methodist by faith.

Friends may call at the Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel in Belington from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Doyle N. Rider officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery. Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.

Dolly Marie Talbott, 76, of Wabash Avenue, Belington, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, in Davis Medical Center in Elkins, following a brief illness. She had been in her usual health and her death was unexpected.

She was born March 10, 1937, at Junior, a daughter of the late Ralph and Geraldine (Swisher) Corley. On Dec. 24, 1956, she was married to Milford Dale Talbott, who preceded her in death on April 15, 2004.

Surviving are two daughters, Debbie Goff and husband, Joe, of Buckhannon, and Terena Talbott of Belington; two sons, Ronald Dale "Rat" Talbott and wife, Debra, of Junior, Melvin R. Talbott and wife, Ellen, of Belington; one sister, June Delauder, of Belington; three brothers, Kenneth Neil Corley, of Proctor, Ralph Wayne Corley of Moundsville and Thomas Leon "Red" Corley of Bryans Road, Md.; eight grandchildren, Amanda Criss, Jonathan Goff, Jason and Brittany Talbott, Samantha Canfield, Sarah Richards, Danah Carpenter and Hannah Mallow; and 10 great-grandchildren, Miya, Alicia, Damian, Molly, William and Braelyn Criss, Daisy Canfield, Alette Goff, Carly and Jacob Richards.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Virginia Bertling; and by two brothers, Charles and Robert Corley.

Mrs. Talbott was a founding member of the Belington Emergency Squad, where she had served as an Emergency Medical Technician, as a volunteer and later as a member of the paid staff. She had also served as radio dispatcher for the city of Belington and along with her husband, owned and operated Ma and Pa's Grub Wagon. She had simultaneously served as president of the auxiliary of both the Belington Emergency Squad and the Belington Volunteer Fire Department. She was a member of the Concord United Methodist Church, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and was currently attending the Faith Deliverance Ministry Church, where she taught Sunday School and was active in church activities, particularly their food distributions.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, from the Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel, 609 Crim Avenue, Belington. Pastor Robert Ware will officiate and interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., the funeral hour on Tuesday. Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.

Obituary for Pauline A Corley - The Inter-Mountain - Jul 27, 2010
Pauline Alice Corley, 91, of 213 Railroad Ave., Junior, died Saturday morning, July 24, 2010, in Mansfield Place, Philippi, following an extended illness.

She was born Oct. 6, 1918, at Gage, Barbour County, a daughter of the late William Clayton and Sarah Triplett Hutzler.

On Oct. 16, 1937, she was married to Woodrow Corley, who preceded her in death on March 7, 1997.

Surviving are one son, Jerry Corley of Morgantown and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Danny Corley; by one daughter, Lyndel Corley; by five sisters, Effie Belle Cain, Margie Thorn, Wanema Hutzler, Laura Victoria Martinkus and Mary Halstead; and by three brothers, Dempsey Clayton Hutzler, Denver Hutzler and Elmo Clayton Hutzler.

Mrs. Corley was a homemaker and seamstress and was a former employee of Reidbord Brothers, clothing manufacturers, at Elkins. She was Protestant and was a former member of the Pythian Sisters at Junior.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel, 609 Crim Ave. in Belington, where funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Neil Parsons will officiate and private interment will follow in the Knights of Pythias Mountain View Cemetery at Junior. Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements.
