Yacolt - Augustine E. Brader, 85, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1997,
in Vancouver.
She was a homemaker and lived in Yacolt for 31 years.
Mrs. Brader was born July 27, 1912, in Elkins, W.Va. She liked
the outdoors, oil painting, reading and dogs, especially her
beagle, Molly.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond George,
in 1960, and her second husband, Wade H. Brader, in 1968.
Survivors include one daughter, Willa Jean Smogar of Yacolt; two
sons, Ray W. George Jr. of Vancouver and David George of
Vancouver; one sister, Caroline Bilyeu of Vallejo, Calif.; and

WA, passed away on Nov. 25, 2011. She was born in
Norton, WV.
Willa enjoyed her pets, reading and gardening.
Willa is survived by her two children, Mark Smogar of
Vancouver, WA and David George of Mesquite, TX; and two
grandchildren, Dustin Smogar of Kalama, WA and Austin
Smogar of Vancouver.

James William Logan, 78, of Elkins, died July 30, at Davis
Memorial Hospital. He had been in declining health for the past
two years and death was attributed to cancer.
He was born March 23, 1924, at Norton, the son of the late Frank
Patterson Logan and Bertha George Logan.
Surviving are Anna Mae Harris, Elkins, and his advisor, Greg
Morgan, Elkins; two uncles, Glenn Logan, Baltimore, MD, and
Burton George, Atlanta, GA; three aunts, L. Amy Arbogast,
Elkins, Georgia Pope, New Bern, NC, and Eleanora Woodford, Oak
Hill; and numerous cousins.
Mr. Logan was a 1942 graduate of Parsons High School . Upon
graduation from high school he entered the military, serving
with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He attended
Davis & Elkins College, and graduated from the Wheeling Barber
School in June 1953. He owned and operated a barbershop in the
Elkins area and along with his father, Frank Logan, worked as
coal prospectors, owning and operating Logan Core Drilling Co.
He was a member of the Tygarts Valley Post 3647 Veterans of
Foreign Wars, and a member of the First United Methodist Church
of Elkins.
Friends were received at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home. Funeral
rites were conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev.
Dr. Basil A. Hensley officiating. Interment followed at the
Maplewood Cemetery where members of the H.W. Daniels Post 29
American Legion and Tygarts Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign
Wars conducted full military honors. |

Ethel Marie
Pingley George Jenkins, 78, a resident of Norton, passed
away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at her home.
She was born March 2, 1929, at Norton, a daughter of the
late Enoch J. Pingley and the late Mona Channel Pingley
McClanahan.
She was twice married, first to Hobert James George, who
preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 1963. She later
married Cullen B. Jenkins, who preceded her in death on
May 25, 1985.
Surviving are two sons, Hensley "Butch" George of
Orrville, Ohio, and Arnold George of Dalton, Ohio; and
seven daughters, Barbara Carder of Philippi, Edith Scott
of Dartmore, Loretta Schartiger of Middleport, Ohio,
Arlene Bowers of Tampa, Fla., Ruth Poling of Callahan,
Fla., Virginia Newsome of French Creek and Susan Jenkins
of Buckhannon. |
One brother, Russell R. Pingley of
Millersburg, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Leon (Mabel) Shiflett of
Norton, Mrs. Millard (Edith) Abbott of Canton, Ohio, and Mrs.
Dewayne (Verna) Proudfoot of Orville, Ohio; 22 grandchildren, 22
great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Also preceding her in death were two sons, Ronald Lee George and
Roger Dewayne George; a daughter, Evelyn Travise; a grandson,
Hensley "Butchy" George; three sisters, Eva L. Cross, Bertie
Pingley and Isabel Pingley; and two brothers, Grady J. Pingley
and Enoch R. Pingley.
Mrs. Jenkins attended the schools of Randolph County and was a
homemaker.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn
Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m.
Sunday, Jan. 27, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev.
Tristan Tenney and the Rev. Bernard Teter officiating. Interment
will follow in Phillips Cemetery near Jimtown. Memorial
contributions may be made to Mountain Hospice, 1600 Crim Ave.,
Belington, W.Va. 26250 in memory of Mrs. Jenkins. Tomblyn
Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for
Ethel Marie Pingley George Jenkins. |

George (Dalton, Ohio), born in Norton, West Virginia, who passed
away on December 23, 2019, at the age of 70, leaving to mourn

He was predeceased by : his parents, Hobert George and Ethel
George (Pingley); his siblings, Evelyn Travise, Ronald and

Evelyn Louise George Travise, 50, a resident of Buckhannon, died
Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, in Ruby Memorial Hospital at
Morgantown.
She was born Dec. 9, 1955, at Elkins, a daughter of the late
Hobert J. George and Ethel Pingley George Jenkins, who survives
at Norton.
On June 8, 1974, she was united in marriage to John “Butch”
Travise, who survives at Buckhannon.
Also surviving are two sons, Sgt. John J. Travise III, serving
in Bagdad, and Andrew T. Travise and wife, Amy, of Buckhannon;
her mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Madelyn Travise of
Coalton; two brothers, Hensley “Butch” George and wife, Isabel,
of Orrvile, Ohio, and Enoch “Arnold” George and wife, Donna, of
Dalton, Ohio; seven sisters, Barbara Carder and husband, Kenny,
of Philippi, Edith Scott of Dartmore, Loretta Schartiger and
husband, Tom, of Gallopolis, Ohio, Arlene Bowers and husband,
Phillip, of Tampa, Fla., Ruthie Poling and husband, Jeff, of
Callahan, Fla., Jenny Newsome and husband, Craig, of Buckhannon
and Susie Jenkins of Buckhannon; 30 nieces and nephews and 20
great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two infant brothers, Ronald
and Roger George; and one nephew, Butchie George.
She was a graduate of Coalton High School and employed by West
Virginia Wesleyan College.
Viewing will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at
Tomblyn-Whitescarver Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at
2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at the funeral home chapel with the Rev.
Ronnie Tinney officiating. Interment will follow in Phillips
Cemetery at Phillips Chapel Church. Tomblyn-Whitescarver Funeral
Home is in charge of the arrangements. |

ANCY ELLEN STALNAKER GEORGE, age 68 years, a resident of 75
Pleasant Avenue, Elkins, West Virginia, departed this life
Saturday evening, May 14, 2005 at her home. She had been in
declining health.
She was born Thursday, October 16, 1936 at Elkins, West
Virginia, a daughter of the late Elmer Vendle Stalnaker and
Nellie Virginia Collett Stalnaker. On February 10, 1956, at
Elkins, West Virginia she was married to Harold Junior "Jack"
George, who survives. Also surviving are two brothers, Neil
Stalnaker and David Stalnaker, both of Elkins and several nieces
and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents are one brother,
Donald V. Stalnaker.
She was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1955
and had worked at the G. C. Murphy Company, Montgomery Wards,
Lamb's Jewelers and Joseph's Newsstand. She was a life member of
the Tygarts Valley Post # 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies
Auxiliary and served as President in 1975 and 1976. She was
voted Auxiliary President of the year in Class "C" in 1975 as
well as the Auxiliary being chosen as Outstanding Auxiliary that
same year. She was an elected member of the Randolph County
Democratic Executive Committee and a member and past president
of the Democratic Women�s Club. She was a member of the H. W.
Daniel's Post # 29, American Legion Auxiliary, the TREA
Auxiliary and the Saint Brendan Catholic Church. She loved to
work on ceramics and crafts.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home
from 6 to 9 PM, Tuesday. On Tuesday, at 7 PM, at the funeral
home, a prayer service will be recited by the Reverend Father
William Anderson. On Wednesday, May 18, 2005, Mrs. George will
be moved to the Saint Brendan Catholic Church where the Liturgy
of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. The Reverend
Father William Anderson and the Reverend Father Thomas Dagle
will be the Presiders and interment will follow at the Mountain
State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, West Virginia. The Lohr & Barb
Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for NANCY ELLEN

AnnaMae Caroline Waybright George, age 74 years, a resident of
Coalton, WV departed this life Monday evening November 28, 2011
at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She had been in
declining health.
She was born Monday, July 26, 1937 at Flint, Randolph County, WV
a daughter of the late Clifton Mason and Mary Elizabeth Bennett
Waybright. On June 19, 1954 at Harding, WV she was married to
Richard Lee "Mack" George, who survives. They had celebrated
fifty-seven years of marriage.
Also surviving are three sons, Terry George and wife Susan;
David George; and Ernie George; all of Coalton; one brother,
Kenneth Waybright and wife Georgie, Files Creek, Beverly; three
sisters, Kathryn Fleming, Alton, IL; Betty Ash, Howey in the
Hills, FL; Virginia Knight and husband Al, Dundalk, MD; eight
grandchildren, April; Stephanie; Kristie; Justin; Eric; Casey;
Sara; and Joey; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and
nephews.
Preceding her in death are three brothers, Elmer; Gerald; and
Harold Waybright; two sisters, June Thomas; and Peggy Shaw.
She was a graduate of Coalton High School with the Class of
1955. She was a homemaker, a noted cook and dearly loved her
grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the
Coalton Union Mission Church.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home
of Elkins on Friday, December 2, 2011 from 11 AM to 12:30 PM,
the funeral hour. At AnnaMae's request the casket will remain
closed. The Rev. Tristan Tenney will officiate and interment
will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.

Mary has gone to join Shelly Lynn after a 17-year
struggle with cancer.
Mary Kathern Johnson Joslin, 72, of Oak Hill, died
Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in
Morgantown.
Born Dec. 9, 1934, at Uniontown, Pa., she was the
daughter of the late Eleanor K. George Woodford and
Joseph Johnson. Mrs. Joslin was of the Methodist
faith. |
A realtor, Mary had retired from
Century 21 in Fayetteville. Prior to that she had been employed
by ERA, also in Fayetteville. Preceding her in death was a
daughter, Shelly Lynn Forman.
Survivors include husband of 36 years, George D. Joslin; a son,
Scott L. Forman; a daughter, Melinda Forman Eskew; two sisters,
Ann and Joellen; and a brother, Charles. She also leaves behind
six grandchildren.
Graveside rites and committal service will be 1 p.m. Friday,
Aug. 24, at Lawnwood Cemetery, Morgantown, with burial to
follow.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug.
23, at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions
be made to Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV or American

Burton B. George, formerly of Strasburg, Va., and Parsons,
departed this life on Friday, March, 19, 2004, at his home in
Peachtree City, Ga.
He was born at Norton on Aug. 10, 1914, the son of William E.
and Julia Corley George of Barbour County.
He attended schools in Barbour and Randolph counties. He was a
former resident of Parsons where he was self-employed for a
number of years.
His parents and his loving wife, Mary Nestor George, preceded
him in death. He and his wife celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Also preceding him were one son, Barry George; seven brothers
and three sisters.
He was the loving father of Mary Louise and Rufus Bross of
Peachtree City, Ga., and Cindy Allanson of Silver Spring, Md.;
and the loving grandfather of Richard Ball of Lawrenceville,
Ga., Sherry Hopkins of Peachtree City, Ga., and Barry and Andy
George of Maryland.
Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren and three sisters, L.
Amy Arbogast of Elkins, Eleanora Woodford of Beckley and Georgia
Pope of New Bern, N.C.
Memorial services will be in Virginia at a later date. In lieu
of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Portsbridge
Hospice, 1335 Lake Ridge Parkway, Riverdale, Ga. 30296.

Yvette Marie (Peterson) George - Former Shirleysburg area
resident - Yvette Marie (Peterson) George, 88, of 14251 Angelton
Terrace, Burtonsville, Md., and formerly of the Shirleysburg
area, died at 2:10 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Montgomery
Hospice - Casey House, Rockville, Md.
Born Oct. 23, 1924, in Blairs Mills, she was the daughter of the
late Lawrence M. and Hazel M. (Parsons) Peterson.
Mrs. George is survived by a son, Kevin George and wife, Ida, of
Burtonsville, Md.; and four grandchildren, Catrina George,
Danielle George, Laura George and Michael George. She is also
survived by her siblings, C. Boyd Peterson and wife, Sue, of
Blairs Mills, and Mary Grove and Beryl Scott and husband,
Richard, all of Shirleysburg.
She was preceded in death by the her siblings, L. Dale Peterson,
Helen Morgan, Glenn Peterson and Rosie Goss. Mrs.
George was of the Protestant faith. She was a graduate of
Orbisonia High School. Mrs. George worked as a budget analyst at
the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. She enjoyed crocheting and
knitting, donating many of the items she made to various
churches.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 19, at
the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev.
Julie Piper officiating. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery,
Tell Township. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Thursday,
April 18, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Friday at
the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs.
George may be made to Alzheimer's Assoc., National Capital Area
Chapter, 3701 Pender Drive, Suite 400, Fairfax, VA 22030. |

Martha E. Tuck, 71 of Woodbridge, Virginia, passed away on
Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Mary Washington Hospital.
She was born in Washington, D.C. on June 26, 1941 to the late
Catherine and Woodrow George.
Martha was raised in Junior, West Virginia until the age of 14
when her family moved to Alexandria, Virginia. Martha attended
G.W. High School where she met the love of her life, Vic. They
married in 1958 and moved to Woodbridge, Virginia where she
became involved in the Marumsco Woods Association organizing
numerous parades. She worked in the Rippon School Cafeteria and
as a Prince William County Crossing Guard. Martha was always
supportive and involved in her children's activities that
included girls' basketball and stock car racing at Old Dominion
Speedway. Watching two diabetic sons deal with daily struggles
and complications of the disease, she researched and published a
book "Our Diabetic Sons". Martha was an exemplary woman loved so
much by friends and family.
She is survived by her husband of almost 55 years, Victor Ray
Tuck; four children, David Tuck, Vicky Schwenger, Laura Baker
and Douglas Tuck; two brothers, Woodrow George of Stafford, VA.
and Jeffrey George of Culpeper, VA; one sister, Cathy Ramey of
Stafford, VA; six grandchildren, Michael Remsberg, Jennifer
Tuck-Brenkert, Jessica Tuck-Thomas, Leah Schwenger, Cari
Schwenger, Melissa Tuck; and 5 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday,
December 13th at Mullins & Thomas Funeral Service 186 Shelton
Shop Road, Stafford, VA 22554, where a funeral service will be
held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 14th. Interment will
follow at Stafford Memorial Park. |
