Canfield???
I can find no proof that Canfield was Sarah's husband or that she
went by the nickname Lizzie. Yes, the dates on the marriage
license for a Lizzie Corley and Harrison Canfield fit, BUT on
the 1900 Census, Elizabeth Canfield gives her birth month as Mar.
According to the birth record for Sarah she was definitely born Dec
1, 1871 in Barbour Co., WV, not March.
This Lizzie does die sometime between 1900 - 1910, because Harrison
Canfield remarries to widow Louverna Wyatt Leasure in 1911, Randolph
Co., WV (Louverna remarries again in 1949 to Lambert).
There are no death records or grave markers that document the death
of the Lizzie Corley who married Harrison Canfield. So there is no
way to say with 100% certainty that this Sarah E Corley went by the
nickname of Lizzie and married Harrison Canfield. There are
also no documents that have this Sarah's middle name as Elizabeth. |

Willie G Corley

Other than the WV birth
register and the1880 Census, which are the only
places Willie appears, I am assuming this child died sometime before
the 1900 Census. There is no male with the first name beginning with
"Wil" with the last name beginning with "Cor" born
around 1879 in the 1900 Census. I also cannot find a death
entry for Willie in the West Virginia records. I did come across one
of those generic genealogy websites that mine information from other
websites and found a death date for William G Corley in the tree
for this family with a death date of Jan 27, 1882, Barbour Co., WV.
When I checked the West Virginia death records for 1882 for both Barbour
and Randolph Counties, I could not find this death registered.
Note: This is NOT the Willie C Corley (father Lewis W
Corley) who married Flossie Hill, March 15, 1908, Barbour Co., WV |
