  About Virginia Blackwell - I am unable to find Virginia in the Census prior to her marriage to Franklin.  I am also unable to locate a death or burial record for Virginia in either WV or VA.

In the 1920 Census, Virginia was living in VA with her daughter Addie and Addie' family.  Franklin was living by himself in Randolph Co., WV.  Marital status for both was married. 

In the 1930 Census, Virginia cannot be found and Franklin is still in Randolph Co., WV.  Franklin's marital status is now widow. This would mean that Virginia passed away sometime before the 1930 Census. 

Burial was most likely in the Mill Creek Cemetery where Franklin and daughter Addie were buried.

Of note:  No one on ancestry has been able to find Virginia either before or after 1920.

MRS. ADDIE CUTLIP -- CLINCHBURG, Va, March 28. Mrs. Addie Cutlip, M, a well known resident of Clinchburg, died at her home here yesterday at 1:50 p. m. She had been ill three weeks.

She is survived by her husband, and two sons, Frank and Edmonds Cutlip, both of Clinchburg. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Abbie Channell of West Virginia.

Arrangements have not been completed for the funeral services, which will be held Saturday, Interment is to be made at Mills Creek, W. Va. The body was taken to the Huff -Cook funeral home In Bristol.

On February 14, 2023, Gloria Jean Martin, passed on to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Gloria was born April 6, 1950 in Elkins, WV to Harold and Anna Mae Swecker Channell. She graduated from Tygarts Valley High School, Mill Creek, WV, 1968, and went to work in Washington, DC for the federal government. She met her husband, John, originally from West Seattle, at the same governmental office and they were married August 21, 1971 in Huttonsville, WV.
They lived in Poolesville, MD, until both transferred with the government to Kirkland, WA, in March 1980. She ended her 21 year federal career in 1989, after their three children were in school. She then began working for the City of Kirkland as the Business Licensing and Cemetery Clerk until retiring in September 2015. During 1983 to 1993, Gloria and John were heavily involved with Kirkland American Little League (KALL) as Secretary and President. Gloria loved life and Jesus, loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. She exemplified to her family what it meant to be generous, kind, forgiving, resilient, happy and she did it with such grace.

Gloria enjoyed traveling, especially to France, Germany and the UK, her most favorites out of the 27 different countries she visited. She looked forward to traveling back to DC and West Virginia areas as often as she could and took friends and family members with her on fun-filled eventful tours. Gloria was never shy with a pleasant word, smile and a story. She was kind towards strangers and friends alike, both at home and away. The Martin Christmas party was a big highlight for her each year to have up to 46 family and friends at home for a sit down dinner to bond and sing with utter disregard of embarrassing laughter produced by ear cracking singing.

Gloria eagerly dove into her church life at Overlake Christian Church and then Canyon Hill Community Church hosting life groups and other events at their home. She rooted for the Seahawks and attended may home games over the past 43+ years as a season ticket holders. Her smile, laugh and constant kind heart will be missed.

Gloria is survived by her husband, John W. Martin, of Kirkland; son, Jeffrey W. Martin and his wife, Tricia Martin of Billings, MT, daughter, Christie Martin of Kirkland, WA; daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Jeff Jeremiah, of Sammamish, WA and of course her beautiful, wild and wonderful grandchildren; Howie and Grady Martin, Brooks and Reagan Jeremiah; brother, Kevin J. Channell and sister-in-law Molly, of Petersburg, WV. She was preceded in death by her brother, Samuel Channell; sister, Mary Catherine Channell and brother Jackie Paugh, all from Mill Creek, WV.

GOLDTOWN – Dwain L. “Bud” Chenoweth, 71, of Goldtown, died peacefully at home on Sunday, July 18, 2010, surrounded by his loving family following a battle with cancer.

Dwain was preceded in death by his parents, I. W. Chenoweth and Margaret Channel Chenoweth, and brother Ronald L. Chenoweth.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 52 years, Josephine M. Chenoweth; daughters Tami Newton and husband Robert, Tara Lyn Williams and husband Matthew of Goldtown; son Scott Dwain Chenoweth and wife, Eva of Lithia, FL; granddaughters Lauren Newton Jeffers and Husband Carson of Richmond, KY, Krista lynn Newton of Charleston; great-grandson Kaden Jeffers
Dwain was a great lover of his pets and will be missed by Buddy Boy, Little One and Marlei. He was also an avid fan of the West Virginia Mountaineers. Dwain was a master designer in the Engineering Dept. at Union Carbide Corp. retiring in 1997, with 38 years of service.

The family would like to acknowledge Jenny Carnell, Stanton and Rosemary Boggess, Walter and Pat Milam, and Lee and Gye Walker for their unwavering support during this difficult time.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 21, at Waybright Funeral Home in Ripley, with Rev. Greg Estep officiating. Jay Carnell and Jordan Smith will assist. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery at Goldtown. Visitation with the family will be from 6 till 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 20, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made in his memory to Fisher Memorial Church, Kenna, where he was a member, or to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Blvd, West, Charleston, Wv 25313-2536.

According to the 1950 Census, Mary was born in WV.  I even went through birth records of every Mary V born in WV in 1913 looking for the Mar 22, 1913 birth date, with no luck.  I DID NOT check all 774 of the Mary's.  Her record could still be there.  No one on ancestry.com has Mary's last name either.

Anchorage resident Paul Kevin Pace, 36, died Nov. 12, 2003, in Colorado Springs, Colo., of natural causes. Visitation was at Witzleben's Bragaw Chapel. A funeral was held at the chapel with the Rev. Scott Medlock officiating. Burial followed at Angelus Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Will Emerson, Steve Tucker, Richard Hogue, Tom Ireland, Jon Seabrook and Mark Chase. Honorary pallbearers were Steve Larrabee and Matt Emerson.

Mr. Pace was born July 12, 1967, in Anchorage and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1985. He was employed by Carlile Transportation Systems until 2002 as a truck driver and equipment operator. His family writes: "Paul loved his family and his state. He especially enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends. He loved to skate and played hockey since early childhood with the Boys and Girls Club and Bartlett High School."

He is survived by his parents Maureen V. "Vickie" and James B. "Bruce" Pace of Anchorage; wife, Gina M. Pace; children, Chelsey, Kevin and Jonathan of Anchorage; brothers, Robert Pace and Douglas Pace of Anchorage; sister, Rebecca Pace of Santa Barbara, Calif.; paternal grandmother, Adell Pace of Missoula, Mont.; and many other relatives in West Virginia, Ohio, Montana, Florida and Texas. Arrangements were with Witzleben Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

  Dorothy is the adopted child of Lewis Channell and Millie Cool.  In the 1940 Census, Millie is living with her first husband Walter Corley.  With them is a female child named Dorothea Clouser age 4/12 months which is given the relation of "resident" child.  Possibly foster child???

Dottie Lou Carroll was reunited with the love of her life on December 17, 2018.

She was born on December 12, 1939 in Randolph County West Virginia. In 1959, she graduated from Richwood High School. Later in the year, on August 22nd, she ran away in the middle of the night to marry the love of her life, Jimmy Carroll, in Clifton Forge Va.

Dottie spent her time as a domestic goddess while raising three children, mothering her dogs, and keeping up to date on the latest town gossip. In her spare time, she took classes at Beckley College, sang in multiple church choirs, and served on various positions of the Quinwood town council.
Dottie remained an active part of her community, and maintained a deep love and devotion for the Order of Eastern Star. Not only was she a member, but she was a Grand Officer in the Grand Chapter of West Virginia. She enjoyed the deeper meanings of Eastern Star and the glitz and glam of dressing up that came with it.

This carried over into her everyday life. She loved to dress up and do makeup with her granddaughters and their friends.

It is suspected that dancing was the only way she was able to maintain her hourglass figure because she had a special disliking for exercise. It was no surprise to see Dottie dancing across the living room and singing with Elvis, all while drinking cup of coffee. Her sense of humor could make anyone smile as she was an especially talented storyteller.

She spent her last few years living with her son Jamie and being cared for by her good friend Denise.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Millie (Cool) Channell, and her husband Jimmy Carroll. Those life to honor Dottie’s memory are, her three children Tanyia (Ray) Montie, Jamie (Lisa) Carroll, Jeffory Carroll, and her two granddaughters Olivia (Dylan) Reeder, Ali Montie and 1 great grandson, Luke.

Dottie did not pass her green thumb down to any of her family members, but they all share her love of animals. With that being said, in lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations made to the Greenbrier Humane Society (P.O. Box 926, Lewisburg, WV 24901 or http://www.greenbrierhumane.org/donate

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Wallace Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, Clintonville. Friends may call 6-8 p.m., Thursday evening at Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Rainelle with The Eastern Star service at 7:00 p.m.
